Mason's Diary 07/10/07 - 08/04/07
A quiet week, 07/10/07
Diary entry No. 106
It’s been a strange old week. Lucas has been off ill (nothing serious... man flu!) and there’s been no filming (which always depresses me!) so I thought Jason and I would have a nice day out together. Off we went for a very jolly adventure and it was lovely to get away from it all, although it did result in me having to make some very tough decisions.
I won’t go in to the details but it really made me question what I want to get out of life. The short answer I finally came up with is more quality time for myself and more rigid working hours – f*** knows how I’m going to achieve it! But there has to be a way and I’m determined to try and find it…
Anyway, over the next few months I know I’m going to be crazily busy making a ton of films. There are so many totally hot new guys coming on board to play with your existing favourites that I’d be mad not too, and after all it’s what I set out to do! But perhaps I might just get far enough ahead to take a little holiday in February ;-)
In the meantime I’ll leave you with a little teaser in the form of the pictures to the right. Which other “straight” guy is having fun with Matt H? I wonder…
All the best,
Mason

Busy as ever, 30/09/07
Diary entry No. 105
It’s been a little crazy over at the new apartment during the last few weeks. Lucas has been busy arranging plenty of shoots and I’ve been getting used to commuting to work again! Well, OK, I’ve given him some freedom with the solo shoots while I’ve been working on other things, but I’ve been there for all the duo’s…
We’re still waiting for a load of furniture to arrive but on a brighter note, we do now have a broadband internet connection - it’s been absolutely horrible trying to live and work without one. Sometimes it’s easy to forget what life was like back in the dark ages… when it took over a minute to view a page with a few hot images and video downloads took an entire afternoon for a 30 second blurred clip!
Anyway, we’ve been thinking up a host of different shoots we can make in the new pad and with a little luck these should start hitting the BM pages pretty soon. Talking of the site, I finally managed to sit down with my web designer on Friday afternoon and iron out all of the minor quibbles with the new look site. The build will commence very soon :-)
Oh, I’ve also commissioned a fun piece of animation to help promote the site. I’ll post it here when it’s finished and it’s sure to bring a smile to your face…
Have a great week,
Mason

Quick catch-up, 09/09/07
Diary entry No. 104
First, my apologies for not writing here in my diary for a while. It’s been a real crazy time and so I guess I should share what’s been going on recently. Following Sean’s departure in May, I have been running the site pretty much single-handedly and I soon reached exhaustion point. Deciding to take 3 days off in July, I invited my dear friend down from Scotland for a boating adventure.
Having driven some 580 miles, we set off from Plymouth and headed down the coast to Fowey in Cornwall. However, as soon as we left Plymouth Sound the sea state proved very unfriendly; 12 foot waves are not nice in a power boat! So we turned around and headed for the calm waters of the Yealm estuary where we had a very pleasant evening.
Setting off for Fowey the next morning, the sea had calmed down and it promised to be a fun (if not slightly bumpy) journey. Alas, half way there one of the engines went “bang” and that was that… we limped in to Fowey and had to come back the next day on one engine. By the time the engineers had figured out the engine was well and truly f***ed, the warm weather was upon us and it eventually took 4 weeks to get the boat back in the water!
I should point out that the boat was only 3 months old and the engine had only done 66 hours… and even though I spoke to the Director of Volvo Penta Marine UK, no plausible reasons were given. It’s just one of those things, I guess! Anyway, the whole saga took so much time to sort out that I haven’t been in the best of writing moods ;-)
Mixed in to this bag of events has been the appointment of a new assistant – Lucas (the model). He moved to Plymouth this week to start his new production assistant role with BLAKEMASON. He’s been travelling down for the past 4 weeks, helping me film and getting to grips with editing the films; it’s not always as easy as you’d think.
Not only that, but I’ve also been busy searching for a new apartment in which to film. I finally picked up the keys last weekend and Jason and I spent a rather hideous day last Sunday shopping for furniture! You got an idea of what it’s like in “Matt H Returns”… it has a lovely big wet room and the spaces are really quite amazing ;-)
Other than that, BLAKEMASON.COM will be getting a new look pretty soon. I’ve finally signed off on the revised design but unfortunately, Andy, our original and fabulous web developer simply doesn’t have the time to undertake this project. I’ve had to find another open-minded, talented individual to build the new-look site… and I’m sure it’s going to be great!
OK, that’s enough for now… and there you were, thinking I had left you and was taking a 2 month break. Oh, how I wish!!!
All the best,
Mason

Enough..., 25/07/07
Diary entry No. 103
Imagine a world where respect and honesty for others came first. Then, dream of a world where people didn’t exploit one another and throw them out with the trash when things go embarrassingly wrong. Hell, why not consider the fact that your actions and choices actually affect people in a way you had no idea they could?
There’s a clue to the right. A simple piece of latex can mean a bright, happy, unaffected future for the guys you want to watch having fun. Without it, well, those same guys who make your lives more “satisfying” end up with a very different future. But unlike you, I know them, and I feel the impact.
I, like so many people I know right now, want to SCREAM about the blatant exploitation of guys who want to entertain you on film. There are some major sites who seemingly have no idea about just how these films are made, or the false promises that are given to the models and I just can’t let that continue any longer.
Anyone who promotes bareback sites without knowing exactly how those films are produced needs to ask themselves the question “have I made money from somebody’s misfortune”? Commercial suicide for me perhaps, but soon, there will be a website for all affected models to relay their own stories. It will have a prominent link on my site simply because this is a tale that has to be told.
Let’s face it, I make a decent living without having to resort to filming bareback sex. However, it seems that bareback sex outsells condom sex 10 to 1. I guess some people are just a little greedy without, perhaps, fully understanding the implications of their actions.

Time for some advice, 01/07/07
Diary entry No. 102
OK, I think it’s time for me to give an update on what’s going on with the British porn scene. Of course, it’s my biased point of view, but then that’s been shaped by the reports I’ve heard from numerous models working here in the UK over recent months. And unlike some anonymous commentators, I really do know what’s going on and I don’t belong to “the club”. No doubt you’ll attack me for being too serious ;-)
First though, I would just like to say that like myself, there are some very good webmasters and producers that existing models and newbies alike can trust. But how do those of you who want to have fun on camera know who really is legit?
1) Have you talked with the director / webmaster/ producer directly?
2) Have they explained in detail what’s involved? One shoot or three for the money they are offering?
3) Have they given you their contact information?
4) Have they told you about what you will get paid, and how you will get paid?
5) Have they explained where your photos / films will appear?
6) Have they explained their travel expenses policy and do they get uptight when the train fare is going to be more than £30?
7) Have they been clear about camera-man intervention?
I could go on, but to cut to the chase, anybody who offers you less than £200 for a simple solo shoot is having an absolute laugh. And if they also start quibbling about train fares then just ask yourself “is this really someone I can trust”?
Most importantly though is the issue of bareback porn. Some people will promise you an astonishing £140 per bareback scene and endless reams of (rather pointless and inadequate) paperwork to convince you that it’s a good thing. And don’t forget that’s far less money than you could earn for having a wank for much more reputable producers.
I am also horrified to hear that within the UK, there has been talk afoot about creating a “cartel” for porn producers aimed at capping what models should be paid. I, for one, am totally against the exploitation of people in this way and I urge all other responsible producers to declare their position on this matter on their websites.
Life is about give and take, not all take, and not exploitation. It really is that simple. I am proud to run an ethical, respectful adult entertainment business which continues to donate a portion of its profits to charity… the question is, why can’t others do the same? What ever sites you may choose to visit after this one, please, send them an email and ask the question. I’d be delighted to hear your feedback!

I've pulled all my hair out, 17/06/07
Diary entry No. 101
The great British summer. Where’s it gone, eh? It seems that every time I arrange a shoot it’s pissing down with rain! At this rate I’m just going to have to book a long holiday over-seas and take a few of the guys with me in order to capture some sunshine fun. I will NOT be defeated by the weather ;-)
Still, we did manage to do one shoot on the boat recently with Kai and Nathan and the guys sure were having very “deep” fun, if you get my drift! The only problem was the wind and a new-ish, fairly in-experienced camera man who just couldn’t leave the “pause” button alone. Anyway, despite all the missing footage from one camera (and the fact it’s taken 3 days to edit together - I even brought an Avid expert in to help!) it’s actually turned out to be a pretty hot film :-)
As for the week ahead, well, I have a few newbies coming down to do some solo films and I think I just might film a 3-way too. No doubt the rain clouds will be overhead all week long – maybe I’ll try and do one of the shoots in the rain just to see what it’s like! Wish me luck and have a great week...

Every cloud has a silver lining, 10/06/07
Diary entry No. 100
Sometimes in life you just have to relax and go with the flow of things. It’s not always easy but this weekend I had arranged for the stunning Zac to come down for a few shoots. However, the model who I had arranged for him to do a duo with had to cancel right at the twelfth hour for personal reasons. So what was I to do?
Fortunately, the totally HOT HOT HOT Zac has a nature and personality to match his looks and so we decided to have a fun day out on the boat. No video cameras, just a few stills to record a very chilled and relaxed afternoon. And you know what? It was just what I needed, spending a few quiet hours with this lovely handsome man and forgetting about all the other worries that had been preying on my mind.
Yes, it would have been great to have seen this fella in an action duo but hey, that can happen sometime soon so no big shakes. But it does give you guys the chance to suggest who he should pair up with and who should top who! In the meantime, you can look forward to his solo film – coming this Thursday if things go to plan!
Other than that, I’ll leave you thinking what a lucky son-of-a-bitch I am (because yes, yesterday I really was!)
All the best,
Mason

Tough love, 04/06/07
Diary entry No. 99
Well, it’s been another one of those crazy, sad weeks that’s been waiting to happen for ages and in the end, I just had to bite the bullet and do the deed. Yes, I know, people are people and despite my optimistic nature, those closest always seem to be the ones who piss all over you. And despite my aging years, it’s a hard one to learn…
OK, time to move forward. With a little help from Jason and some tech support guys we finally managed to get everything up and running on the new PC. However, learning how to edit on Avid Xpress Pro is just a little daunting… nothing seems as intuitive as it should do. Any experts out there? If so, I’d love to hear from you!
Moving outside (or “let’s go outside” as a famous singer / song-writer once said!) I have what promises to be 4 very hot shoots lined up for the week ahead. The boat is cleaned, fuelled and ready to see some more hardcore action… will the sun shine for us? Perhaps ;-)
Meanwhile, I’m still mulling over what hardcore film to release next week. Anyone got any preferences? Indoors or outdoors? Oh the choices I give you!
Take good care of yourselves,
Mason

The joys of life, 27/05/07
Diary entry No. 98
Sorry for no diary update last week – I can’t remember for the life of me what happened to keep me away from my PC ;-) Oh well, there you go, the first signs of senility are setting in already…
Anyway, I’ve had an interesting week really. The weather improved and so I managed to film our first ever hard-core shoot on the new boat – and what a fucking scorcher it turned out to be. No, not the sunshine but the action and resulting film! I spent yesterday editing it together and I thoroughly enjoyed myself doing it ;-)
For those of you who only stop by for the free preview films, you’ll be delighted to hear that you’ll get to see a 2 minute teaser of the action! I’m not sure when I’m going to release it so stay tuned – members of the forum can find a link somewhere to see it right now ;-) If it doesn’t get your blood pumping to all the right places then you’ll need to see your doctor ASAP!
On a less positive note, my new “super” PC arrived this week and you guessed it, there are serious incompatibility issues that need to be resolved before we can use it for editing (or anything else for that matter). Bummer! Not only that, but my laptop also seems to be dying a slow death… Jason… I need your assistance!
OK, let’s hope the sun comes back out for some more outdoor shoots – they are just so much more sexy that even I find myself wishing I was the one in front of the camera with the gorgeous guys!
Have a great week,
Mason

Under the weather, 13/05/07
Diary entry No. 97
I’ve had a bit of a bad week if I’m going to be honest. First, 4 film shoots were cancelled for various reasons and that always puts a downer on things. Then the weather turned completely foul and there’s barely been a moment when the rain hasn’t emptied from the sky. And to top it all, I went down with a stomach bug on Friday and I’ve been feeling pretty queasy ever since!
Anyway, in order to try and improve my steadily worsening mood I indulged in a little retail therapy. Sean had been whinging on and on about my PC and editing software (not that it’s ever played up for me, of course!) for months and so I finally decided to try and shut him up. Needless to say I went completely overboard and spent a stupid amount of money – but I have told him that I’ll only take any further complaints if they are accompanied by his resignation letter! At least I should get some peace and quiet for a while ;-)
All the best,
Mason

Summer's coming, 06/05/07
Diary entry No. 96
As you might have guessed by now one of our new summer shoot locations is actually a fairly large sports cruiser built for the oceans! I thought long and hard about what would make things more spicy and a different house just wasn’t enough! We needed something really hot, where the guys would have a whole lot more fun under the sun and so here we are ;-)
Despite the fact it’s only the beginning of May we’ve already made 2 films on the boat – and if the surf had been a little calmer we would have managed to get ashore to a nice, quiet private beach for a third shoot too! Not that I’m in any hurry of course… the four warmest months are just around the corner :-)
Needless to say most of the guys from the site have been keenly waiting for the boat’s arrival and the text messages of “when can I come for a shoot” have been flooding in. I really must get some duo shoots organised… fucking on the sunpad, over the bow, from the radar arch… mmmm… how my mind gets carried away. And then there’re those beaches… well, you know what they say… sand makes a good time grate - ouch ;-)
Have a great week,
Mason

Help required, 15/04/07
Diary entry No. 95
OK, I have to be honest and say that I am like a child waiting for Christmas Day to arrive right now. I get the keys to our new summer shoot location this coming Friday and it’s been a gruelling wait – I think I paid the deposit way back in January! Needless to say my friends are sick of hearing me go on about it but I just can’t help myself ;-)
Anyway, with the continued growth of the site I have decided to admit defeat – I simply can’t keep up with everything even though Sean has taken over 90% of the editing. I need someone else to help out with the film shoots, the marketing, the editing and all the emails I keep receiving about how cool the site is!
So that’s the bottom line. I need to employ another enthusiastic, dedicated assistant in order to maintain the BLAKEMASON quality of service and films. Interested? A full job description is available to those that email me with a proper note of interest describing themselves and their work history (and ONLY for applicants eligible to work in the UK I’m afraid).
Right, now that’s been covered I should warn you that the week ahead is looking pretty damn hot… pics to the right. Oh, and because I’ll be taking those keys, there won’t be a diary update next Sunday (but the films are there for enjoyment – don’t panic!)
All the best,
Mason

Thinking of others, 08/04/07
Diary entry No.94
It’s been a really tough few weeks since I returned from holiday – as always, the “shut down” time seems as though it was years ago already. You see, one of the worst things about working for yourself is that if you want to take some time off, you have to work 3 times harder before and after you get back! It was never like that when I had a “day job” – it just took a day or two to read through the emails ;-)
Now though, it takes me a week to catch up and another week to get ahead – so in the last 8 days I’ve made 7 films! And while I shouldn’t grumble (it’s not a bad job really!) it does take it out of you, so to speak. I guess I’ve found it particularly tough because Aiden died just after I got back and just before all of these film shoots happened. It’s all kind of knocked the stuffing out of me.
Such events tend to make us think in more detail about our lives and those around us. Indeed, I made another donation to our nominated charity yesterday morning and I hope it helps to make some people’s lives better. But here am I, working away on Easter weekend while the sun shines outside. I’m sure that wasn’t in the plan when I set about creating this site… maybe I should change my life again…
Or perhaps not! While I often feel like grumbling about my lot in life, I am actually pretty lucky. I have some fine friends, a modest income and a successful business to be thankful for… just like many of you I suspect. Whereas poor Lucas is in a horrid place and I’d like you all to think and wish him well today, after all, life’s more rewarding when you give something, no matter how in-expensive, back to those truly in need.
Much love,
Mason
